The Youth & Family Services Division provides after-school and summer youth programs. The Division oversees two youth facilities, where instructional and recreational activities are provided.

Over 90% of the children and teens served come from families whose total household income falls within the low to very-low income range of the federal poverty guidelines.


Monica Roybal Youth Center
The Monica Roybal Youth Center serves 120 children in the after-school program and over 200 children in the summer program.

Carlos Ortega Teen Center
The Carlos Ortega Teen Center serves 100 teens in the after-school program and 160 teens in the summer program.

Summer Youth Program
Each year the City provides a summer youth program for teens and younger children.  Read and/or download information for the 2010 Summer Youth Program.

Budgetary Challenges
Because of the nature of the services provided by the Youth and Family Division, staff must rely heavily on the generosity of others. Capital outlay needs are an on-going concern.  Here is a list of the Division's capital outlay needs.
