Chris Calvert was elected to the Governing Body in 2006 and re-elected in 2010. He is serving his second four-year term.

Councilor Calvert is a champion of sustainability programs in Santa Fe including water conservation, ‘green building’ and solar energy. He is a member of the Transit Advisory Board, the body that oversees Santa Fe Trails–the city’s transit system that has buses which run on compressed natural gas. He believes that Santa Feans need to earn a good living wage in order to afford to live in Santa Fe and raise a family here. Creating good paying jobs and strengthening Santa Fe’s economy are among his top priorities.

Councilor Calvert serves on the following committees:

  • Buckman Direct Diversion Board - Member

Education
Councilor Calvert earned a master's degree in public policy and a bachelor’s degree in conservation of natural resources, from the University of California, Berkeley. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in aeronautical engineering from the U. S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs.

Calvert is married to Reverend Mother Carol A. Calvert, Associate Pastor of The Church of Antioch Santa Fe.
