Pothole Repair & Road Maintenance Schedule
To optimize city resources, enhance road safety, and minimize traffic disruptions, the Public Works Department has divided the municipality into four primary maintenance zones. Public Works crews rotate systematically through these areas to execute planned road repairs, crack sealing, and pothole repairs.
Important Notice: Scheduled maintenance and repair windows are strictly subject to change with the exception of inclement weather and/or emergencies.

Priority Guidelines for Repair Requests
While crews strictly follow the monthly zone rotation, individual service requests are prioritized based on the severity of the hazard and the traffic volume of the affected roadway:

Priority 1 (Emergency): Large or deep defects on major arterials (e.g., Cerrillos Rd) that pose an immediate, severe hazard to public safety or have a high risk of causing vehicle damage. Target response: Action taken within 24–48 hours.

Priority 2 (Routine): Standard, localized potholes located on secondary collector streets. Target response: Addressed systematically during the designated zone rotation week.

Priority 3 (Residential): Minor asphalt degradation, shallow depressions, or small potholes on local residential roads and cul-de-sacs. Target response: Scheduled during zone rotation or during lower-volume periods as resources allow.
Important Operational Notes
Inclement Weather Adjustments: Permanent asphalt patching and hot-mix deployment require completely dry conditions and strict ambient temperature thresholds. In the event of heavy rain, snow, freezing weather, or extreme cold, operations will be temporarily suspended, and scheduled repairs will shift outward.
Emergency Dispatch Divergence: Maintenance crews may be immediately diverted from their actively scheduled zones to handle high-risk safety hazards or critical road infrastructure emergencies elsewhere in the city.
Seasonal Road Preservation: In addition to standard reactive patching, crack seal and mastic repair for gatoring asphalt areas may be performed based on the time of year. These preventive maintenance tasks are highly dependent on specific seasonal temperatures to ensure that adhesive materials bond appropriately to the existing pavement layer, maximizing structural longevity.

Residents can actively report road hazards by calling the City of Santa Fe constituent services line or submitting a formal digital request via the city's online reporting portal. Please provide the nearest cross-streets, lane orientation, or an exact street address to facilitate swift dispatch.
