The City of Santa Fe Fire Department (SFFD) is deploying resources to support the firefighting effort in the City of Las Vegas.

“We are a Fire Family and will support our neighbors to the east without hesitation,” said Santa Fe Fire Chief Brian Moya. 

Today, the SFFD sent two fire engines to Las Vegas, and two additional engines and an ambulance will move to Las Vegas tomorrow. Two SFFD command staff and a team of up to 20 firefighters, emergency medical technicians (EMTs) and paramedics will be on the ground to assist as needed.

Chief Moya and his chiefs are coordinating staff schedules locally and deploying our new cadet class here in Santa Fe to ensure all needs within Santa Fe are met. Santa Fe Emergency Management is coordinating with local and state partners, including the Red Cross, to ensure any residents who must evacuate areas around Las Vegas have what they need for shelter and supplies. 

“The City of Santa Fe is closely monitoring the fire situation in Las Vegas and we’ll do everything we can to help protect life and property there while keeping Santa Fe safe at the same time,” said City Manager John Blair.

An effort to support ranchers and farmers in northern New Mexico is already underway, coordinated by local firefighting unions. Donations of animal feed, miscellaneous items for animals like troughs, hay, bowls, and crates, and paper products can be brought to Fire Station 5 on Siler Road. Gatorade, hot cereal, diapers, and personal hygiene items can be brought to Fire Station 5 on Siler Road
