City Crews Fill 1,214 Potholes During Spring Repair Effort

City crews completed a successful week of pothole repairs across Santa Fe from , filling a total of 1,214 potholes in preparation for the spring and summer seasons.

The Complete Streets Division focused efforts on improving roadway conditions to help ensure safer travel for residents and visitors. Work began on high-traffic arterial roads, including Cerrillos Road, St. Michael’s Drive, and Rodeo Road, before expanding into residential neighborhoods and other streets throughout the city.

Potholes commonly form due to moisture, temperature fluctuations, and repeated traffic. Water enters cracks in pavement, freezes, and expands in colder temperatures, weakening the asphalt over time. Ongoing maintenance like this effort is essential to preserving safe and reliable roadways.

Crews utilized the City’s Thermolay pothole patching truck, acquired in 2025, which allows for more durable, long-lasting repairs by removing damaged asphalt, preparing the base, and applying hot-mix material.

The City of Santa Fe looks forward to continuing roadway improvements throughout the year.
