20 Apr, 2022
SANTA FE, April 20 – The City of Santa Fe Office of Economic Development invites you to stream the inaugural Film Prize Junior New Mexico Film Festival from now until Saturday, April 23 and cast your vote for the “Audience Choice” in both High School and Middle School film categories. Sixty student films are available for viewing online for free, and include submissions from Santa Fe Indian School, New Mexico School for the Arts, Desert Sage Academy, Santa Fe Prep, Academy for Technology and the Classics Charter School, and Capital High School.

“We are proud to be a major sponsor of the 2022 Film Prize Jr. NM Festival,” said Rich Brown, Community and Economic Development Director. “This competition provides the youngest of New Mexicans with an opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience and insight into film-making, and allows them to develop technical and soft skills that can further a future career in our celebrated local film industry.”

Film Prize Junior New Mexico is a statewide youth short-film competition, festival, and educational initiative. Student filmmakers who enter the competition are required to write a short script and then film a short movie of 3-10 minutes in length. They compete in multiple categories to win digital media and filmmaking grants for their schools, student scholarships, and teacher recognition awards. Film Prize Junior New Mexico provides participating classrooms with a wealth of resources and ongoing support to guide students and teachers through the process of developing their concepts, scripts, and storyboards in all phases of production and post-production.

View this year’s film submissions online at the Film Prize Junior NM website. Viewers must watch at least three films in order to vote for the Audience Choice award. Winners will be announced on Sunday, April 24 at Moving Arts of Española.
