In celebration of National Pedestrian Month, the ribbon cutting of the El Camino Real Academy (ECRA) Trail will be held today from 3:15-4 p.m. Tables with Halloween treats will be along the trail to encourage everyone to walk this beautiful, solar-lighted trail.
The trail is being opened so that the children who walk, cycle, or roll from the ECRA to the Cottonwood Village Mobile Home Park can use the new trail when school is dismissed.
Meet the ECRA students, their parents, Mayor Alan Webber and councilors, city staff, ECRA staff, BPAC, and other NGO Staff at the eastern terminus of the Trail (intersection of Aspen Loop and the Trail) at 3:15 p.m.
Treats and prizes will be handed out by city departments.
This Safe Routes-to-School trail project was conceptualized over five years ago and funded by the Office of Affordable Housing via the Community Development Block Grant.
The ECRA Trail runs from Cottonwood Road and connects to Alexander Estate’s bicycle and pedestrian trail. It is a 1,035-foot long, 10-foot-wide concrete multi-use trail, and one of the city’s six state-and federal-funded Complete Streets bicycle and pedestrian improvement projects for construction this year.
