SANTA FE, August 20, 2022 — Today the City of Santa Fe proudly announces that Emily Oster is being appointed to serve as the City’s next Finance Director. Ms. Oster is a certified public accountant (CPA), she is certified as a chief procurement officer (CPO) and she holds a master of accounting degree.

“The City is lucky to have found Mr. Oster, who joins our team with such significant financial experience and expertise,” said City Manager John Blair. “I’m confident she’s the right person to modernize our finance department and bring much-needed stability to our City’s finances.”

 Since early 2019, Ms. Oster has served as the Deputy Secretary of the New Mexico Taxation & Revenue Department, where she manages the department’s operations. Previously, she served as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for the New Mexico Law Offices of the Public Defender, and as the CFO and Director of Compliance & Quality Control at the Office of the New Mexico State Auditor. While working at the State Auditor’s Office, Ms. Oster was responsible for maintaining up-to-date quality control policies and procedures for the Office and she performed quality control reviews of the Office’s audits and wrote administrative rules governing the conduct of audits.

 “As a longtime resident of Santa Fe I’m honored and excited to join the City of Santa Fe leadership team as Finance Director,” said Ms. Oster. “I fully appreciate and embrace the need for the department to file audits in a timely fashion, to craft responsible budgets that match City priorities and resources, and to provide excellent customer service to the department’s broad stakeholder base.”

Ms. Oster has resided in northern New Mexico since 2004 and has lived in Santa Fe since 2009. She graduated summa cum laude from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Science degree and holds a Master’s Degree in Accountancy from the University of New Mexico. Ms. Oster will start her service as Finance Director on September 6, 2022.
