Community Development Commission Seeking New Members

6 Apr, 2023

SANTA FE, April 6, 2023 – The City of Santa Fe’s Office of Affordable Housing is seeking applications from community members for vacancies on the Community Development Commission (CDC). The CDC is a seven-member board with members appointed by the Mayor and approved by the Governing Body. Members serve a 3-year term. Interested applicants should be committed to advancing affordable housing options in Santa Fe and must be a city of Santa Fe resident.

The CDC advises the Office of Affordable Housing staff and provides recommendations to the Governing Body regarding allocations for approximately $625,000 in annual federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding, as well as funding allocations for housing assistance grants and programming with funds from the City’s Affordable Housing Trust Fund (AHTF). The CDC also provides guidance on the City’s requirements for including affordable housing in new development, including the Santa Fe Homes and Housing Opportunity programs. CDC members also have an opportunity to create policy recommendations to the Governing Body about affordable housing and other community development issues. The work of the CDC is guided by the City of Santa Fe Five Year Strategic Plan, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Consolidated Plan, federal CDBG regulation, and local code.

CDC meetings are scheduled from 3:30 to 5 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month as needed, as well as one mandatory all-day meeting usually held in February or March to hear CDBG and AHTF application presentations and make funding recommendations.

Applicants should send a brief resume and letter of interest to Cody Minnich at cjminnich@santafenm.gov or call 505-819-1194 to submit a paper copy. Applications are due by 5 p.m. on Friday, April 28, 2023.

The CDC is chaired by Councilwoman Renee Villarreal.
