Deadline for Applications is October 8, 2021

The City of Santa Fe’s Office of Affordable Housing seeks individuals interested in advancing affordable housing options in Santa Fe through service on the Community Development Commission (CDC). The CDC is a seven-member board appointed by the Mayor and chaired by Councilwoman Renee Villarreal. Two (2) vacancies need to be filled, effective from the date of appointment. Thereafter, the appointees will serve a three (3)-year term subject to reappointment.

The CDC advises the Office of Affordable Housing staff and provides recommendations to the Governing Body of the City of Santa Fe for the following: a) Funding allocations for the approximately $625,000 annual Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program; b) Funding allocations for housing assistance grants and programming with funds from the City’s Affordable Housing Trust Fund (AHTF); c) Administration of the Santa Fe Homes Program (SFHP) and the Housing Opportunity Program (HOP); and, d) Policy recommendations to the Governing Body relating to affordable housing and other community development issues.

Chairwoman Renee Villarreal says, “The CDC is an important recommending body for the City. As such, we seek individuals who are committed to public service, social equity and justice and would like to use their lived experience and expertise to help the City make decisions on how to spend federal and local funds. These funds provide crucial support for affordable housing and community development in Santa Fe.”

The work of the CDC is further guided by the City of Santa Fe Five Year Strategic Plan, the HUD Consolidated Plan, federal CDBG regulation and local code (Section 26 SFCC 1987).

Commissioners must reside within Santa Fe County. Meetings are scheduled from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month as needed, with three mandatory annual meetings usually held in February, April, and September.

Candidates may send, via email, a brief resume and letter of interest by 5:00 p.m., October 8, 2021, to Toni Candelaria Martinez, staff liaison to the CDC, at tocandelariamartinez@santafenm.gov or call 505-316-4634 to submit a paper copy. All interested applicants will be considered.
