SANTA FE, NM – The Santa Fe Public Library invites you to celebrate Día! Día de los Niños Día de los Libros (Children’s Day/Book Day) with two days of fun events for children of all ages. SFPL will kick off the Dia! festivities a day early with a virtual, live-streamed visit with best-selling author and illustrator Raúl The Third on Friday, April 29 at 9 a.m. (details below) Then, join the library team on Saturday, April 30 at 10 a.m. at the Southside Library for a full day of stories, crafts and fun. Día! is a year-long celebration of children, families, and reading that emphasizes the importance of literacy for children of all cultural and linguistic backgrounds. It culminates annually on April 30th with a host of multicultural events, including family programs, bilingual story hours, book giveaways, and other fun activities.
“The Santa Fe Public Library is excited join in the national Día celebration of the joy of books and reading. We have several fun activities planned to provide the opportunity for community and families to join us in recognition and appreciation of reading and sharing books together,” said Community Services Director Maria Sanchez-Tucker.
Visit with Raul the Third on Friday, Apr. 29
The Santa Fe Public Library, Friends of the Santa Fe Public Library, and the Santa Fe New Mexican invite you to join a live-streamed virtual presentation with New York Times bestselling and three-time Pura Belpre award-winning illustrator, author, and artist Raúl The Third on Friday, April 29 at 9 a.m. at the Santa Fe New Mexican’s website. Raúl will give a presentation on his life, his work, and his writing and illustration process, and answer questions from students in Santa Fe Public Schools including Cesar Chavez Elementary.
Raúl’s work centers around the contemporary Mexican-American experience and his memories of growing up in El Paso, Texas and Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. His book Vamos! Let’s Cross the Bridge was awarded one of the year’s Best Illustrated Children’s Books of 2021 from the New York Times and the New York Public Library, and he is currently adapting his World of Vamos! books into an animated television series with Silvergate Media and Mercury Filmworks. Children's Day/ Book Day
On Saturday, April 30, the Santa Fe Public Library and Friends of the Santa Fe Public Library will host Día!, Children’s Day/Book day at the Southside Branch (6599 Jaguar Dr.). The day kicks off with Bilingual Books and Babies at 10 a.m., followed by Bilingual Storytime (11 a.m.), a My Little Horse Listener Visit and Craft Workshop (1:30 p.m to 3:00 p.m.), and another Bilingual Storytime at 3 p.m. to conclude the celebration. Free books will be available while supplies last! All events are free and available to children of all ages.

Dos días de eventos divertidos planeados en conjunto con la iniciativa nacionalmente reconocida como “Dia!”
SANTA FE, NM – La Biblioteca Pública de Santa Fe (SFPL) te invita a celebrar “Día!” El Día de los Niños, Día de los Libros con dos días llenos de eventos divertidos para niños de todas las edades.
SFPL iniciará las festividades del “Día!” un día antes con una visita virtual, transmitida en vivo, con el popular autor e ilustrador Raúl The Third el viernes 29 de abril a las 9 a.m. (detalles a continuación). El día siguiente únete al equipo de la biblioteca el sábado 30 de abril a las 10 de la mañana en la Biblioteca Southside para disfrutar de un día completo de cuentos, manualidades y diversión. “Día!” es una celebración enfocada en los niños, las familias y la lectura que abarca todo el año y hace énfasis en la importancia de la alfabetización en los niños de todos los orígenes culturales y lingüísticos. Culmina cada año el 30 de abril con una serie de eventos multiculturales, incluyendo programas familiares, sesiones de cuentos bilingües, reparto de libros y otras actividades divertidas.

La Biblioteca Pública de Santa Fe, los Amigos de la Biblioteca Pública de Santa Fe (Friends of the Santa Fe Public Libray) y el periódico Santa Fe New Mexican te invitan a unirte a una presentación virtual transmitida en vivo con el ilustrador, autor y artista Raúl The Third, ganador de tres premios Pura Belpre a la ilustración y autor renombrado por New York Times, el viernes 29 de abril a las 9 a.m. en la página web del Santa Fe New Mexican. El sábado 30 de abril, la Biblioteca Pública de Santa Fe y los Amigos de la Biblioteca Pública de Santa Fe organizarán "Día", el Día de los Niños/Libros en la sucursal de Southside (6599 Jaguar Dr.). El día comienza con Libros Bilingües y Bebés a las 10 a.m., seguido por la Hora del Cuento Bilingüe (11 a.m.), My Little Horse Listener y un taller de manualidades (1:30 p.m. a 3:00 p.m.), finalizando la celebración con una hora más del Cuento Bilingüe a las 3 p.m. Tendremos libros gratuitos hasta agotar existencias.
