Former Assistant City Attorney Appointed to City Clerk Role

31 Oct, 2024

Native New Mexican Andréa Salazar takes on a new role in the City of Santa Fe as City Clerk in November. Raised in Santa Fe, Salazar knows City Hall well after serving as an assistant city attorney for close to four years. “I am excited for this next opportunity. The City Clerk role will allow me a chance to continue the work I started when I previously worked for the City,” says Salazar.

Over the past 13 years, Salazar has practiced law in a wide range of areas including: criminal, local government, school, land use, real estate, redevelopment, and arts in public places law. She is an active part of the legal community holding a position on the State Bar Commission and most recently served as the chief general counsel for the New Mexico Office of the State Auditor. Salazar’s extensive experience will be an asset as she returns to City Hall. “This time I will be on the community facing end. I am looking forward to working with the excellent City Clerk team and helping get the hard work done necessary to move the City forward,” says Salazar.

Salazar served as an assistant attorney for the City of Santa Fe from 2019-2023 advising and assisting the City’s Economic and Community Development, Assets and Leasing, Community Services, and Arts and Culture departments. Mayor Alan Webber says Salazar will bring a wealth of experience and leadership to city hall. “I’m grateful and excited to have Andréa coming back to the City in this new role. She knows our people and our operations and can help make sure the City Clerk’s office is the front door for our residents,” says Mayor Webber.

Salazar begins her new role on November 12, 2024.
