SANTA FE, April 18, 2022 – The City of Santa Fe Recreation Division is excited to announce expanded hours at City Recreational Facilities beginning Monday, April 18, 2022. The Genoveva Chavez Community Center will offer extended operational hours from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday-Friday. Saturday operational hours will remain from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fort Marcy has expanded hours for the Fitness Center and Gymnasium and will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday-Friday. The Fort Marcy pool will close at 4:30 p.m.
The expansion in operating hours is due to feedback from the community and successful hiring campaigns and retention incentives that have helped bolster city staffing levels across all departments, including recent rapid-hire events.
“It’s great news that we can extend our recreation hours in response to community needs. By adding people to the City team, we’re able to offer more to our residents—and everybody wins,” said Mayor Alan Webber.
The City of Santa Fe Recreation Division has the most affordable and extensive network of recreational services throughout Santa Fe. The Genoveva Chavez Community Center offers opportunities such as indoor pools, hot tub, sauna, weight room, gymnasium, fitness classes, ice arena, racquetball courts, and an indoor track all under one roof.
“Our goal is to provide a variety of quality programs, activities and facilities for Santa Fe residents,” said Community Services Director Maria Sanchez-Tucker. “We believe in creating positive experiences by providing both leisure activities and recreational programs that fulfill the needs of the community and create lasting memories. I am excited that we’re able to offer these expanded hours at GCCC and Fort Marcy to help us further our goal.”
The Chavez Center will also offer a thirty-percent discount on a 3-month membership. The sale begins on Monday, April 18 and will continue through May 31, 2022.
