Join Us for a Ribbon Cutting Celebrating New EV Charging Station at Sandoval Garage

21 Apr, 2023

The Environmental Services Division invites community members to a ribbon-cutting and plug-in ceremony to celebrate the opening of a new EV (electric vehicle) charging station in the Sandoval Parking Garage at 216 West San Francisco Street.

Mayor Alan Webber will join ESD staff to highlight the new charger, as well as the City’s recent acquisition of 17 new EVs for its fleet. The City of Santa Fe completed this project with funding from the New Mexico Legislature and the New Mexico Environment Department. The City has also installed an EV charging station at the Santa Fe Community Convention Center Garage, serving two parking spaces, and will soon be installing five more at the Railyard Garage, which will serve ten parking spaces.

The charger installation and the purchase of the new EVs all support the City’s efforts to achieve carbon neutrality by 2040, as outlined by the Sustainable Santa Fe 25-year Plan. The vehicles will help to further reduce the City’s contributions to greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) in Santa Fe, and the charging station will add to Santa Fe’s EV infrastructure and support current and future EV owners, helping to ensure Santa Fe is a user-friendly city. The City’s most recent Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory Report shows that GHG emissions in Santa Fe dropped 15% from 2015 to 2021 and that transportation emissions dropped by 33%!
