Midtown ENN Responses Online Now

10 Aug, 2022

The responses to written questions submitted during the Midtown July 14 Early Neighborhood Notification (ENN) meeting are now available at midtowndistrictsantafe.com (scroll down to ENN FAQs). A Spanish translation will be available shortly.

The Early Neighborhood Notification (ENN) was the first step in the process for the introduction and proposed adoption of the Midtown Land Development Plans. The general master plan and rezoning recommendations were presented to nearby residents and property owners. Following the presentation, the Midtown team fielded questions from members of the public and solicited written queries.

Topics covered in the responses include: Affordable Housing, Disposition of Existing Assets, Site Planning and Design, Zoning, the Processes for Review and Approval, Temporary Uses, and Governmental Uses.

NEXT STEPS: The Office of Economic Development will submit the Land Development Plan application to the Planning and Land Use Department on August 22. Public hearings with the Planning Commission and City Council and Government Body will be held in October and November. Track the events on MidtownDistrictSantaFe.com

MIDTOWN COMMUNITY PLANNING STIPEND PROGRAM: The City has allocated funds for stipends to support local civic and community organizations to host forums to review and educate the public about the draft Land Development Plan and Community Development Plan, excerpts of which will be posted soon at MidtownDistrictSantaFe.com. Stipends range from $1500 to $5000. To request funds, apply online

REQUESTS FOR PROPOSALS: The City will issue a series of RFPs this month for private developers and owners to redevelop and operate certain existing buildings at Midtown. They are the first RFPs that focus on community uses to bring people back to and enliven Midtown, as follows:

  1. Visual Arts Center rehabilitation and reuse as an arts hub;
  2. Greer Garson Performance Theater rehabilitation and reuse as a community and public theater;
  3. Garson Production Studios for the rehabilitation and expansion of the buildings and lot with pre-, post-, and production facilities.

The City encourages all Santa Feans to keep abreast of the Midtown redevelopment process on the project website: MidtownDistrictSantaFe.com
