The City’s Office of Affordable Housing (OAH) is applying for a competitive Pathways to Removing Obstacles to Housing (PRO Housing) federal grant in the amount of $4 million and is seeking public input on the draft application through Tuesday, October 24, at 5 p.m. If successful, the grant funding will be used to partially implement the City’s newly revised land development code and support anti-displacement policy work, as well as pay for necessary infrastructure and pre-development costs for the first affordable housing parcel at Midtown.
The PRO Housing Grant seeks to remove barriers to creating housing options for residents and is administered via the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Community members are invited to provide feedback on the draft grant application, which is now posted on the OAH homepage, along with instructions for submitting comments.
There will also be a public hearing to consider the grant application at the Quality of Life Committee meeting at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, October 18. Community members are invited to participate in person or via Zoom. Instructions for participating will be available on the City’s PrimeGov portal in advance of the meeting. A brief presentation on the application will also be given at the Community Development Committee meeting on Oct. 18 at 3:30 p.m.
Persons with disabilities in need of accommodation for the committee meetings may contact the City Clerk’s Office at 505-955-6521. Auxiliary aids (ASL interpreters, Braille documents) and language interpreters for Limited English Proficiency (LEP) individuals can be made available upon request at 505-316-4634.
