On April 15, 2022, The Santa Fe Police Department concluded the three week operation, “Shopping Cart” which focused on the retail theft in the Cerrillos Road business district. Effective April 18, 2022, the department will begin “Operation Northern Lights”. The Northern Lights operation will run from Monday, April 18th through Sunday, June 19th. Officers will be staffed daily for the operation, with a primary focus on the downtown area.
Officers will be focusing on commercial burglaries, criminal damage to property, quality of life issues, larcenies, and other property related crimes.
The Santa Fe Police Department seeks to conduct proactive, highly visible patrols focused on the Railyard, Guadalupe, and Plaza area for criminal activity and to build a partnership with local business owners, continuing community/police communication, and to increase overall police presence.
