Ongoing Projects

Location: Acequia Trail from Felipe Place east to the trail underpass at St. Francis Dr.
Project Description: NMSD is installing new safety fencing on the north side of their property along the trail. They are using the trail as temporary access for materials and labor but will not close it during this work. The completion timeline is not known as of now but will be updated as soon as possible.

Contractor: The City of Santa Fe Public Works Department
Location: Agua Fria/South Meadows
Project Description: The Public Works Department will begin the work on the Agua Fria/South Meadows Intersection improvements. The project will include adding turning bays on Agua Fria and South Meadows and signal improvements. Traffic delays will occur, and you should seek alternate routes when possible. EastboundAgua Fria will be closed starting April 12, 2024, detour is South Meadows to Rufina and Jemez Rd. Signage is in place.

Location: St Francis/Rodeo Road
Project Description: Transmission and distribution of the City Water Department will be flushing fire hydrants (it allows clean water to pull into the waterlines to release stagnant water) in and around the area of St. Francis and Rodeo Road.

Contractor: The Nature Conservancy
Location: Cerro Gordo Open Space
Project Description: The second phase of an ongoing project, which includes earthwork and fencing, began in November 2022. All work will be performed on Nature Conservancy property, but access is via the City Parks Department’s Cerro Gordo Open Space trailhead parking area. The second phase of the project has started and is ongoing. The preserve will remain open. The construction site is temporarily fenced.

Location: 66 E San Francisco St.
Project Description: The main road in the Plaza will be closed for traffic on April 16 from 4 a.m. to 2 p.m. for a crane service. The crane will be replacing three fan units on the roof of 66 E San Francisco St. Detours will be in place for traffic.

Location: Garfield Grade and Gravel
Project Description: Public Works will close the Garfield St extension leading to the Vladem, Santa Fe Train Depot, and Tomasitas Restaurant starting April 15th for two days. Constituents can still access Tomasitas via Manhattan Ave and the Depot/Vladem via pedestrian walkways.

Contractor: The City of Santa Fe Public Works Department
Location: Guadalupe St.
Project Description: The work on the Guadalupe St. Reconstruction Project began on September 11, 2023. The project is a complete reconstruction of Guadalupe from Alameda to Paseo De Peralta. The project will last for the next 18 months and will include closures, lane shifts, and flagger operations. The project is now in phase II, the removal of the sidewalk, curb, and gutter from Alameda to Johnson Street on the west side of Guadalupe Street. Work will include removing sidewalks and sidewalks and curb ramps; sidewalks will be closed during the construction process with detours in place for pedestrians.

Contractor: Jaynes Corporation
Location: 445 St Michaels Dr
Project Description: Modifying the median, adding a deceleration lane, and adding an underground utility at 445 St Michaels Dr. for Christus St. Vincent’s Hospital. The utility work will start at the entrance at 435 St. Michaels Dr. The road will be closed with detours and lane shifts in place until work is completed. October.

Location: Beckner Road and Richards Avenue
Project Description: Temporary Traffic Control at the intersection of Beckner and Richards Ave. This is for public Safety. Right IN and Right-Out access only. Left turn movements will not be permitted from either Beckner Rd or from Mission Bend Rd. (South). Motorists from the Mission Bend Sub-Division, including the school who wish to take a left turn and head south on Richards Ave. will need to use the Mission Bend (North) intersection. Right IN/Right OUT access to Mission Bend (South) will be permitted.

Location: Tierra Contenta Trail
Project Description: Repairing a section of the Tierra Contenta Trail below the Vista del Sol Apartments off Jaguar Dr. The repairs include the installation of a storm drain, trail repaving, and seeding the disturbed area. The work began in November 2023. The work will involve closing a portion of the trail and detouring users to Jaguar Drive.

Location: 106 W. San Francisco St. from Galisteo St. to Don Gaspar.
Project Description: Public Works will be demolishing and reconstructing sidewalks, curbs, and gutters from 4-8-2024 through 4-19-2024. Traffic control is in place. Single-lane access is still granted as well as business access through a portion of the sidewalk.

Location: Santa Fe River Trail along West Alameda between Gonzales School and Camino Alire
Project Description: Removal of small-diameter Siberian Elm, structural pruning of mature trees, and other vegetation management and small-scale bank improvements to enhance the Santa Fe River Corridor.  Work will begin April 15 and is expected to last approximately 18 weeks.
