Saturday, April 15, 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
The Santa Fe Public Library’s Southside Branch invites community members of all ages to attend Ramadan Reflections, an in-person program with a panel presentation about the meaning and practice of Ramadan from local Muslim women and activities for attendees.
Ramadan is one of the most sacred times for Muslims and includes fasting from eating food and drinking water from dawn to sunset as a spiritual practice and to empathize with those less fortunate. The fast is broken at sundown with a meal called iftar, often shared with family and friends. Many will gather after nightfall at a mosque for special communal prayers called tarawih. Come to this event to learn more about this religious tradition observed by our Muslim friends and neighbors.
This program is sponsored by SFPL and Friends of the Santa Fe Public Library.
