REMINDER: CHART Final Report to Governing Body Today

SANTA FE, August 31, 2022 – At today's Governing Body meeting, Artful Life LLC will present the final report on the CHART process. This is a presentation, there will be NO ACTION taken by the Governing Body on Wednesday night. 

The report is intended to further an ongoing community-wide discussion and the Governing Body will consider actions based on its recommendations in the near future. The City is exploring options for a special CHART study session in September with Artful Life.

The meeting starts at 5 p.m. and will be held will be in person at the City Hall Council Chamber and will be live-streamed on the City’s YouTube channel; a recording will be available for later viewing. The final report is available at santafenm.gov/chart, on the CHART website at chartsantafe.com, and at santafe.primegov.com/public/portal as an attachment to the August 31 Governing Body Meeting.

Mayor Alan Webber says: "The CHART process sets a national standard for courageous conversation. Out of this process will come more mutual respect and better understanding of all of our history and all of our cultures. It is a brave and bold step toward healing historic trauma. Let’s all take the time to read it and think about it. We need to digest it, consider it, discuss it, and then act on it." According to Artful Life, the lead consultant for the CHART Santa Fe initiative, the final report w completed after 11 months of public engagement: public dialogues, listening sessions, interviews, surveys, art activations, a cultural history series, a blog, and more. The report documents the process and includes 52 recommendations to the City of Santa Fe Governing Body.

“We urge Santa Feans and City leadership to read the entire report which serves as the collective voice of hundreds of residents. Their opinions and perspectives are at the heart of the results and recommendations,” say CHART Co-Directors Valerie Martínez and Jenice Gharib.

The report includes a history of the CHART project, from first mention to substitute resolution and finalized contract; details about project activities, data collection and analysis; a thorough discussion of results and recommendations, and appendices.
