Trails Reopened Due to Rain, Weekend Weather Forecast

17 Jun, 2022

City Will Continue to Monitor Weather Conditions, Trail Use, and Implement Changes as Necessary

SANTA FE, June 17, 2022 — The City of Santa Fe is reopening all closed trails, parks and open spaces, effective trekking_in_woods.jpgimmediately in conjunction with today's expiration of the Emergency Resolution previously approved by the Governing Body. The rainfall on Thursday night, and predicted rains over the weekend and following week, allow for a safe reopening of the trails, at this time, as long as fire precautions and restrictions continue to be observed.

The City will monitor the actual precipitation received, as well as proper use of the trails and adherence to fire restrictions, to determine if future closure orders need to be implemented.

The city-wide Fire Restrictions that were initially implemented in March are still in effect. The following are prohibited within city limits while the restrictions are in place:

  • The sale or use of some fireworks within the city of Santa Fe
  • Smoking in public parks, recreation areas, or on any public trail;
  • Open burning, including campfires, bonfires, pit barbecues;
  • Burning of weeds, trash, or other vegetation;
  • Using any motorized all-terrain vehicle or motorcycles on city owned open space, parks, trails, or other recreational areas
