The City of Santa Fe's River and Watershed Section has contracted with Seeds of Wisdom, LLC., to complete an urban forestry vegetation management project along the arroyo west of Ashbaugh Park. The primary goal of the project is to remove any obstructions to stormwater flows from Cerrillos Road, through the arroyo, to the intersection of Acequia de los Pinos.
Seeds of Wisdom will remove invasive species like Siberian Elms, Russian Olives, and Tree-of-Heaven, as well as trash, dead branches, and other debris in the channel. The clearing of the invasive species will also provide more space for several American Elms located along the arroyo.
Community members interested in receiving wood from the project should email Seeds of Wisdom at plants@sowsfe.com to get a notice when it becomes available. The work is expected to continue through February 2024, weather permitting.
