The way the story goes, Jayme Stayton's first visit to Santa Fe got off to a rocky start. His first night in town, he was having trouble breathing so he rushed to the emergency room at Presbyterian Hospital. The medical team quickly diagnosed and treated his altitude sickness. When he got back home, he wrote me a letter: "I have never experienced such kindness in a hospital before," he said.
He went on: "Everyone was so nice, treating strangers like they had known them their whole life. ... My wife and I were in awe of how clean the streets were with that many people out and about. ... There is nothing that could have prepared me for the beauty of the landscape and the people of Santa Fe."
My new best friend Mr. Stayton happens to be the Mayor of Daleville, Alabama. I'm proud of Santa Fe, and I hope all of you are, too.
P.S. His wife wants to move here!
