Community members are invited to attend the City of Santa Fe’s Arbor Day celebration from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, April 28, at Genoveva Chavez Community Center Park!
Join us to commemorate the 151st anniversary of Arbor Day with a tree-planting ceremony of two deciduous trees and one evergreen tree in GCCC Park with Mayor Alan Webber, City Councilors, and students from Santa Fe Public Schools.
We will also have a first come, first served giveaway of 200 drought-tolerant trees for attendees! Planting more trees in Santa Fe supports our urban forest and creates more tree canopy to help cool down the city.
The City’s Parks and Open Space Division, Environmental Services Division, Water Conservation Office, and non-profit partner Keep Santa Fe Beautiful will have staff available with information about the City’s Tree Smart Santa Fe initiative launched in 2021, and its sister program , the Bees, Trees, and Water Campaign; as well as the City’s Bee City, USA and Tree City, USA designations. This event also supports the goals outlined in the Sustainable Santa Fe 25-year Plan to help us achieve a carbon-neutral future!
