In 2023, the City of Santa Fe Office of Emergency Management partnered with SimTable, LLC, a local provider of Geographic Information Systems analysis with extensive wildfire and evacuation modeling experience, to create evacuation zones in the City of Santa Fe's Wildland Urban Interface in case of significant wildfires in the area.
The 'Know Your Zone' web application aims to provide proactive preparedness information for potential wildfires and protect life safety for residents in the event of an evacuation.
SimTable developed evacuation zones using data from various local, state, and federal sources, while Office of Emergency Management staff developed the application.
The app divides the City’s Wildland Urban Interface into zones based on population and risk, traffic patterns, and topography.
The application allows users to input their home address to identify their zone and, if needed, real-time evacuation status updates.
The app is fully functional in Spanish and English and works on all web-enabled devices. If needed, the City’s text-alert system will link directly to the app for real-time information directly from public safety officials.
