The City of Santa Fe Recreation Division will be offering Adult Ballet classes at the Genoveva Chavez Community Center from November 7 through December 19. Classes will be held on Tuesdays from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. in the Aerobics Room.
Christine Spizzo will be instructing the classes. She is certified in the American Ballet Theater National Training Curriculum and was a part-time ballet instructor at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. The classes are open to any experience level and are free to members!
More About the Instructor:
Christine Spizzo trained at the San Francisco Ballet School, the North Carolina School of the Arts, and at the School of American Ballet in New York.
Upon graduation, she joined the National Ballet of Washington, D.C., and the Ballet Repertory Company of New York, then the American Ballet Theatre in 1975.
As a soloist with the American Ballet Theater, Spizzo appeared in numerous "Live From Lincoln Center" telecasts, as well as the Herbert Ross films "The Turning Point" and "Dancers," and in Baryshnikov's "The Nutcracker" and "Don Quixote." She later performed in Phoenix with Ballet Arizona as a principal dancer from 1988-90.
