Road Projects and Construction Updates


This page provides a running list of active and upcoming roadway improvement projects. Click each project below to view its overview, schedule, traffic impacts, and latest updates.

Construction schedules are subject to change based on weather, field conditions, utility coordination, and contractor availability. Traffic control measures may be in place throughout the duration of each project. Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes when possible and to allow extra travel time when traveling through work zones.

Active Road Projects

The Public Works Department is continuing progress on the State-funded Agua Fria–South Meadows Intersection Improvement Project, aimed at enhancing safety, mobility, and long-term infrastructure reliability.

Current Update:
Crews will be erecting the mast and arms for the new traffic signal the weekend of March 28–29, 2026. This marks a major milestone in the project’s advancement.

Recent Milestone:
Crews successfully completed drilling and installation of the mast arm foundation, followed by concrete placement to secure the structure. This critical work represents nearly a year of planning and coordination.

Traffic Impacts:
The roadway will remain open during the mast arm installation. Lane shifts will be in place, along with temporary flagging operations. Motorists may experience brief delays (approximately five minutes) during the hoisting of the mast arms. Drivers are encouraged to use caution and allow extra travel time when traveling through the area.

Project Overview:
This multi-million-dollar State-funded project will improve safety and efficiency at the intersection for drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists, while supporting long-term corridor reliability.

Project Status:
Construction is ongoing, with each completed phase bringing the project closer to delivering significant safety and mobility enhancements.

The Public Works Department’s Complete Streets Division is continuing roadway improvements to Jaguar Drive from Avenida El Nido to Paseo Del Sol West.

Construction Dates: March 23rd–May 15th, 2026 (weather and field conditions permitting)
Project Total Cost: $1,466,122.90
Funding Source: 2025 Road Improvements GO Bond
Contractor: GME General Building LLC

Scope of Work:
Concrete structure improvements continue from Avenida El Nido to Paseo del Sol West. Each construction segment is expected to take approximately 3-6 days, depending on weather and field conditions.

Project Phases:
Task 1: Concrete structure improvements including curb ramps, sidewalks, curbs and gutters, valley gutters, and utility collars within the roadway limits.
Task 2: Asphalt road rehabilitation beginning with the turning lanes and mainline lanes to follow once the concrete phase is complete.
Task 3: Pavement striping on the new asphalt surface following completion of the asphalt phase.

Traffic Impacts:
Traffic control will be set up prior to construction activities, weather permitting. Motorists can expect lane shifts on Jaguar Drive from Avenida El Nido to Paseo del Sol West. Pedestrians can expect sidewalk closures throughout the segment. Motorists and pedestrians are encouraged to use alternate routes when possible and allow extra travel time when traveling through work zones.

Potential Delays:
Inclement weather, unexpected underground utility issues, or heavy machinery breakdowns may affect the construction schedule.

The Public Works Department’s Complete Streets Division continues sidewalk, curb, and gutter improvements at 237 Don Gaspar Ave Bridge from W. Alameda St to W. DeVargas St.

Construction Dates: March 23rd-April 3rd, 2026
Project Total Cost: $120,678.84
Funding Source: CIP Complete Streets WIP Construction
Contractor: Hasse Contracting Company Inc.

Scope of Work:
Construction of sidewalk, curb, and gutter improvements continues at 237 Don Gaspar Ave. Each construction segment is expected to take approximately 3-6 days, depending on weather and field conditions.

Traffic Impacts:
Traffic control measures remain in place throughout the duration of the project. Motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes when possible and to allow extra time when traveling through the area.

Road Closure:
The segment of Don Gaspar Ave from W. Alameda St to W. DeVargas St remains closed during the duration of the project.

Schedule:
The project is on schedule and is expected to be completed by April 3rd, 2026.

Potential Delays:
Inclement weather and unexpected underground utility issues may affect the construction schedule.

The Complete Streets Division has scheduled pothole repair. During this time, the entire Complete Streets team comes together to aggressively address potholes in preparation for the spring and summer seasons, helping ensure safe driving conditions for the residents and visitors of Santa Fe.

Event Dates: March 23rd-27th, 2026

This year, the Streets Team will begin by prioritizing high-traffic main arteries throughout the city, including Cerrillos Road, St. Michael’s Drive, and Rodeo Road, before branching off into smaller residential and collector streets.

Project Update: Sewer Main Rehabilitation - W. San Francisco St. & N. Guadalupe St.

Beginning March 5, Fuquay Inc. will begin a sewer main relining project along W. San Francisco Street and N. Guadalupe Street. This work is part of ongoing efforts to maintain and improve the City’s wastewater infrastructure.

Daytime Work (March 5 - March 14)

  • Work hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
  • Location: W. San Francisco St., starting at N. Guadalupe St. and progressing toward Paseo de Peralta
  • Traffic impacts: W. San Francisco St. will be closed in sections of approximately 750 feet
  • The closure will move west along the street each day as work progresses

Night Work (March 17 - March 26)

  • Work hours: 9:00 PM - 9:00 AM
  • Traffic impacts: N. Guadalupe St. will be closed during nighttime work hours

Drivers, residents, and businesses in the area should expect temporary traffic changes and are encouraged to plan alternate routes where possible. Access for local businesses and residents will be maintained when feasible.
