City Releases Five-Year Strategic Housing Plan Draft

Santa Fe, NM – The Office of Affordable Housing (OAH) is pleased to announce the release of its draft five-year housing strategy plan.

With the support of Root Policy Research, this detailed report characterizes the housing landscape and needs in Santa Fe across the housing spectrum. It also provides an overview of community engagement activities and current barriers and opportunities to promote affordable housing development and community investment.

The draft strategy plan contains the following sections:

Community and Housing Profile: key data to describe the demographic trends for   households and the housing market in Santa Fe

Housing Needs Assessment: expanding on the data above with key sections about the current and anticipated supply and affordability gaps for renters and homeowners alike

Overview of Community Engagement Findings: describing community priorities and perspectives from focus groups and other community engagement efforts

Review of Land Use Policies: detailing current barriers and opportunities to promote affordable housing development

Goals and Recommendations: organized under three principles to achieve affordable housing objectives and support residents across the housing spectrum.

This five-year strategy plan complements the five-year consolidated plan that the federal Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Agency requires for federal funds. OAH welcomes community input via this Google form (en Español) until May 31 at 5 pm. Once finalized, the City will submit this plan to the NM Mortgage Finance Authority for final approval.
