City Seeks RFPs for Reimagining 1614 Paseo de Peralta

22 May, 2024

The City of Santa Fe announced today the release of a Request for Proposals (RFP) from organizations interested in transforming the space at 1614 Paseo de Peralta in the Santa Fe Railyard—a growing mixed-use district that centers innovation, creativity, and arts and culture, and is one of the most successful of its kind in New Mexico.

The RFP invites coalitions, organizations, and site management firms in the creative industries to reimagine, revitalize, and reactivate public programming for the 17,000-plus square-foot building in alignment with the City and its goals for a vibrant, inclusive, and sustainable community.

Opportunity Highlights:

  • Strategic Location: Situated in the Santa Fe Railyard, 1614 Paseo de Peralta enjoys close proximity to a large network of galleries, museums, restaurants, businesses, lodging, and other cultural and economic assets.
  • Flexible Facilities: Built in 2008, the building offers more than 17,000 square feet of flexible space. This includes recording studios, stages and performance space, workshop areas, offices, on-site parking support, and more.
  • Innovative Community: Tenants will join a landmark development district that is nationally recognized for its excellence in community planning, economic revitalization, and design.

“Community development is driving the growth of Santa Fe's arts, media and film sectors, rooted in our rich arts heritage and continued with innovative immersive experiences like Meow Wolf. Investing in these cultural treasures not only honors our identity but also propels our local economy forward. Together, we're ensuring Santa Fe remains a beacon of creativity and a thriving community for generations to come,” said Rich Brown, Community Development Director.

The solicitation is a collaborative effort between the City’s Office of Economic Development and the Arts and Culture Division and aligns with the New Mexico Economic Development Department’s funding initiatives to support creative Industries.

Proposals should demonstrate that respondents are thinking big, said Arts and Culture Department Director Chelsey Johnson.

There will be a public tour and Q+A Session from 9-11 am Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at 1614 Paseo de Peralta.

This recommended session will provide potential respondents with a tour of the building and detailed information about the site, the vision for its use, and the submission process. For those unable to attend, the session will be recorded and available on the City’s YouTube page.

Submission Deadline: 5 pm on Wednesday, June 19, 2024.

How to Submit a Proposal: Proposals must be submitted by email to Casey Dalbor, Procurement Manager, cjdalbor@santafenm.gov by 5 pm on June 19, 2024. Proposals received after 5 pm on June 19 cannot be considered.

The deadline for questions is June 5, 2024, and all questions should be emailed to Dalbor. Answers will be provided by June 12, 2024.

Nurturing a vital, inclusive, and sustainable business community is the number one priority for the OED. Supporting the creative industries through asset development and other programming is a key component. OED was recently awarded a grant from the state to create a community navigator hub to support and develop the creative industries ecosystem.

OED will continue to work closely with the Arts and Culture Department to deploy programming and funding to address challenges and gaps in Santa Fe’s creative economy.
