Why We’re Celebrating

In 2021, the Public Works Department determined that Bicentennial Pool’s plumbing and jet systems were deteriorating and leaking thousands of gallons of water per month. The pool needed a major overhaul to fix the leaks, and the Governing Body approved a $2.3 million renovation project to get the pool ready for the 2022 summer season. The project was the first large-scale set of repairs and upgrades made at the facility since it opened over 40 years ago!

The work included a new lap pool built from the shell up with a plaster surface and inlaid interior tile, new decking and landscaping surrounding the pool, and repairs and preventative maintenance on mechanical systems and other facility structures. Other improvements were new energy-saving lighting and water-saving fixtures, air leakage repairs, and a solar carport in the parking lot.
