La Farge Branch Library Resuming In-person Service

14 Feb, 2022

La Farge Branch Library to Resume In-person Services on Tuesday, February 15, 2022

February 14, 2022 – The Santa Fe Public Library is pleased to announce that the La Farge Branch Library (1730 Llano St.) will open for in-person services to the public tomorrow, Tuesday, February 15, at 10:00 a.m. Thanks to the City of Santa Fe’s ongoing hiring efforts, La Farge now has adequate staffing to join Main and Southside for in-person services, Tuesday through Saturday, 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m., until further hiring allows for expanding evening and weekend hours of operation.

Community Services/Library Division Director Maria Sanchez-Tucker says: "It has been our honor to safely provide library service at curbside at La Farge Library to the community over the past two years. We are so excited to re-open the La Farge Branch to provide full library services. The La Farge Library is a beloved and important neighborhood resource and we are pleased to be much closer to providing pre-pandemic levels of services to the community. With assistance from the Friends of the Library and the City Facilities Department, library staff has made some great updates to the space and we look forward to welcoming the community back in."

New Features: Stop in and check out the new Young Adult Collection Space, new furniture and décor throughout the building, and more! La Farge patrons will once again be able to browse the shelves for materials to check out, walk through the Rainbow Hallway to the Children’s Room, use a public computer station for up to one hour per day, print documents, use the restrooms, etc. The library will still provide curbside pickup for those who do not want to come inside.

Milagro Fine Art Services recently finished a restoration project on New Mexico Quilt by artist Janet Maher, a tile mural installed at La Farge Branch Library in 1989, and we thank them for their fine work!

Additionally, recently installed artworks from the Art in Public Places portfolio include “The Queen and Venus” by Amanda Baker and “Honoring the Spirits – Pottery Series with Feathers” by David Vedoe. These works were originally sited at Warehouse 21.

In accordance with the current public health orders, staff and library users will be required to wear masks that cover their mouth and nose while in library buildings, regardless of vaccination status.

The Library Division thanks the Santa Fe community for its patience, resilience, and kindness since COVID-19 restrictions closed our doors in March of 2020, and prompted us to explore different ways of serving you. La Farge staff look forward to seeing your smiling eyes very soon!
