Virtual Meeting Will Not Discuss Encampment Proposal |
SANTA FE, July 12 – The Midtown Early Neighborhood Notification (ENN) meeting will be on Thursday, July 14, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and will be hosted via Zoom (link available here). The meeting will not be in-person in the City Hall Council Chambers. The meeting will focus solely on proposed permanent land uses for the site master plan, rezoning, general plan amendment, and LINC overlay amendment of the 64-acre midtown property, which includes the former College of Santa Fe/SFUAD campus, as well as certain adjacent government owned lands.
The City of Santa Fe must move forward with a zoning change in order to implement and incorporate the public’s feedback and desires for the site identified over the course of the robust community engagement campaign. Changing the zoning from residential to commercial is the first required step in achieving the long-term goals, which include:
“The ENN marks a pivotal moment in the process for our long term goals. These are the types of development that members of the community have said they want to see at Midtown in a thorough and extensive public engagement campaign, and years of preliminary planning,” said Mayor Webber. “The plan is going into effect to create a dynamic, welcoming, mixed-use urban center that is uniquely Santa Fe and founded on the principles of sustainable and equitable development.”
The City is using a model of planning that allows for incremental development over time. It also provides opportunities for local small- and medium- sized developers to redevelop individual parcels, and for master developers to redevelop large blocks or acres.
