SANTA FE, May 7, 2022 — Today the City of Santa Fe, in cooperation with the American Red Cross, is activating the Genoveva Chavez Community Center (GCCC) to administer as a temporary shelter for evacuees escaping the threats posed by regional fires. The American Red Cross is establishing operations there today in case the shelter capacity is needed. The region is currently under a Red Flag Warning of extreme danger through 10 p.m. Sunday evening. The GCCC is located at 3221 Rodeo Road. Recreational and exercise facilities will remain open and accessible to residents during regular hours. · Saturday: 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. · Monday-Friday: 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. · Closed Sunday DONATIONS The public is advised that no donations of any kind will be accepted at the GCCC. The best way to continue to support the relief effort is by making monetary donations to the following funds: · The Santa Fe Community Foundation · The All Together New Mexico Fund · The Food Depot Disaster Relief Fund and the State Employees Credit Union are accepting both dry goods and monetary donations. Donations of dry goods (kitchen and bath supplies) only are accepted at Fire Station 5 on weekdays between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Donations of clothing, bedding, etc. are not needed at this time. |
