West Alameda Detours In Place at Calle Nopal, Siler Roundabout Due to Culvert Failure

30 Mar, 2023

The City of Santa Fe Public Works Department has closed a section of West Alameda from Calle Nopal to the Siler Roundabout due to a localized culvert failure that occurred around 5 a.m. on Thursday, March 30, 2023. Two 54-inch concrete culverts under the roadway near 2530 West Alameda have collapsed and caused structural failure of pavement above. Closures and detours are in place for all thru-traffic for safety. Local traffic access is allowed on either side of the hazard.

Public Works has engaged a contractor to begin excavation of the failed culverts and an engineer is making plans for repairs. The repair design, cost and schedule estimates, and notice to proceed are being expedited and should be finalized next week. When the design and schedule are approved, a reopening timeline will be established.

The road closures at Calle Nopal and the Siler Roundabout will remain in place until safe travel is possible, up to and including until the repairs are fully completed. Please allow extra travel time if navigating around the detours and seek alternate routes whenever possible.
