Women’s Commission Seeking New Members

21 Nov, 2022

The City of Santa Fe Women’s Commission is seeking new members.

Established in 2019, the Women’s Commission aims to strengthen the quality of life of women and girls in Santa Fe so they can thrive personally and professionally. Members of the Commission are responsible for reviewing the City’s programs, policies, services, ordinances, budgets, and practices with a gender equity lens. They make recommendations on topics directly impacting women and girls in Santa Fe while seeking and recommending opportunities to partner with other organizations, community members, and agencies to ensure women and girls have equal opportunity and representation in decision-making roles.

Members are appointed by the Mayor with approval from the City Council. Each district is represented by one member, with three at-large member seats. The Commission is currently seeking members for two vacancies: a District 3 seat and one seat for representation of any district.

The Commission meets on the second Tuesday of every month from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in a hybrid meeting format for remote and in-person attendance. The meetings are open to the public.

Commission membership is women-only, which includes transgender women, self-identifying women, and gender non-binary persons. There is an emphasis on recruiting women of color to best reflect communities in Santa Fe. Members must reside within the city limits of Santa Fe.

Applicants can submit a letter of interest and resume to Sophie Andar, Youth and Family Services Program Manager/Women’s Commission Liaison, at sxandar@santafenm.gov

The deadline to apply is Friday, December 16, 2022, at 5:00 p.m.
