The City of Santa Fe and Santa Fe County invite community members to the jointly sponsored annual Next Generation Water Summit (NGWS), from Thursday, June 15, to Saturday, June 17, 2023. The NGWS brings together national and state water experts, water reuse and conservation professionals and local, state, and national water policymakers to share best practices and learn about innovative water conservation and water reuse techniques that can be used to develop reliable water supplies.
This year's theme is “Water Reuse and Conservation: The New Paradigm." The Summit will feature over 25 different live sessions from speakers around the U.S., in addition to an on-demand library of educational offerings. All sessions will be viewable online and available for up to 30 days afterwards. The NGWS is hybrid this year, offering both in-person as well as virtual attendance. Additionally, there will be educational and fun activities prior to the event and live tours post-event. Santa Fe County and city community members can attend the virtual conference for FREE and learn from national and local experts and get updates from local elected officials, including City Councilor Romero-Wirth and New Mexico Congresswoman Melanie Stansbury. The summit will kick off with the Mayor's Reception at the Drury Plaza Hotel, which will take place on Thursday, June 15, at 5:30 p.m.
The Water Conservation Office is also offering three unique and free, hands-on outdoor water conservation community tours that coincide with the summit on Saturday, June 17, at various locations. There will also be a rain barrel raffle with 5 lucky winners! Attendees can submit entries at every NGWS event, increasing the chances of winning, and do not need to be present at the drawing to win.
