Youth Symposium Report Finalized by Youth Board

22 Aug, 2024

The Mayor’s Youth Advisory Board (MYAB) recently finalized its Youth Symposium Report as a result of a symposium that invited youth ages 13-19 to participate in discussion, question and answer sessions, and to participate in youth-led identification of in-depth issues affecting youth in Santa Fe.

MYAB identified and prioritized six key areas of focus to gather data and hear the expressed needs and wants of the youth in Santa Fe. In preparation for the Symposium, MYAB partnered with SFCEN (Santa Fe Community Educators Network) and Social Innovation Strategies to plan, prepare, and produce the symposium.

MYAB intends to utilize the data and insights gained from the symposium to develop a targeted action plan for 2024.

MYAB members will establish subcommittees to provide opportunities for youth input and begin formulating action plans for policy and program implementation that address the needs of Santa Fe's youth. These subcommittees will meet monthly to evaluate the areas highlighted in the 2023 Symposium.

Youth-led projects and discussions will take place at the Santa Fe Teen Center, involving community leaders and organizations, to ensure that the needs of Santa Fe's teens are met.
