Ranked Choice Voting
Ranked Choice Voting (RCV) allows voters to rank candidates in order of preference instead of choosing just one. If no candidate receives more than 50% of first-choice votes, the candidate with the fewest votes is eliminated, and votes are transferred to the next preference on those ballots. This process repeats until a candidate wins with a majority.
How to Vote Using Ranked Choice Voting
- Review the ballot carefully. You may rank candidates in order of preference.
- Choose your top candidate.
- Continue ranking. If you want, select additional choices in order.
- Avoid duplicate rankings. Do not give the same candidate multiple rankings.
- Submit your ballot. Your vote will count even if you choose only one candidate.
