The City of Santa Fe opted into the Local Election Act in 2018 (Ord. 2018-24) and Santa Fe County now conducts the election.

Eligibility Requirements
All candidates must be residents of the City of Santa Fe. Residency is determined under NMSA 1978, Section 1-1-7.
Mayor: Must reside within city limits and meet all legal requirements.
City Councilor: Must reside in the district they seek to represent and meet all legal requirements.

- Start collecting qualifying contributions for public financing.

June 7, 2025 — Election Resolution Adopted
July 21, 2025 — Qualifying Period Ends
August 7, 2025 — Public Financing Certification Decisions Issued
August 11, 2025 — Public Financing Payments Issued
August 26, 2025 — Declaration of Candidacy Filing Day (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
Campaign Finance Reporting Deadlines
- Sept 5, 2025 — By 12:00 PM (60 days before election)
- Oct 6, 2025 — By 5:00 PM (30 days before election)
