Planning an Event or Organizing League Play?
A Permit May Be Required.
To reserve a City park or sports field, please complete the electronic form below at least 30 to 60 days before your proposed event. Once your request is received, a Marketing and Special Events Coordinator will follow up with next steps, including permit fees, insurance requirements (if applicable), and logistical needs such as parking, electricity, and street closures.
Yes. A permit is required to reserve the Santa Fe Plaza or the Municipal Recreation Sports Complex (MRC) for any activity, regardless of group size. A permit is also required to reserve a City park for family gatherings, parties, or group activities with 50 or more attendees, as well as for adult and youth league play, sports tournaments, and high school sporting events. Groups under 50 attendees do not require a permit for general use of City parks. However, if a permitted event is scheduled at the same location, permit holders will have exclusive access to the reserved area.
Yes. A $2,000,000 liability insurance certificate with a $4,000,000 aggregate is required for all sports leagues and special events.
Yes. All individuals and groups with over 50 attendees using City of Santa Fe parks, sports fields, or recreational facilities under a permit are required to review and sign the City’s Patron Code of Conduct.
The code of conduct outlines expectations for behavior and helps ensure a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment for all users.
It includes:
- Prohibited conduct and items
- Guidelines for respectful use of public spaces
- Enforcement procedures and consequences for violations
City permit fees vary by event type, group size, and location. A full cost breakdown is available here.
