Santa Fe residents can now use a new interactive web application to better understand their wildfire risk, access neighborhood-specific safety tips, and stay informed in emergencies. By entering your home address in the “Know Your Zone” app, you’ll see your evacuation zone, get updates in real time, and learn what steps to take to prepare your property. The app is accessible in English and Spanish on any device.
Schedule a Free Home Hazard Assessment
In partnership with the Greater Santa Fe Fireshed Coalition, the city offers free home hazard risk assessments to help residents identify vulnerabilities and improve wildfire resilience. Trained assessors provide personalized recommendations to reduce fire danger around your home and property.
Take Action and Stay Informed
The app also offers neighborhood-specific guidance on landscaping, defensible space, and emergency planning. With Santa Fe ranked among the top wildfire-risk cities in the West, now is the time to act. Visit the Know Your Zone app to get started and explore more resources at santafefireshed.org.

The Santa Fe Fire Department (SFFD) is proud to be one of the only fire departments in New Mexico to have ten full-time employees who specialize in fuel management in the Wildland Urban Interface and respond to wildland fires. Our Wildland Urban Interface program will conduct individual home assessments to evaluate your wildland fire risk and hazard and provide wildfire information for homeowner's associations and public events. Through grants awarded from the US Forest Service and NM State Forestry, the SFFD Wildland Division can conduct hazardous fuels reduction on projects prioritized in the Santa Fe Fireshed or within the city limits. If you are interested in participating in our hazardous fuels reduction program, complete the Landowner Request for Assistance Form and submit it to Wildland Superintendent Nathan Miller at nfmiller@santafenm.gov or call 505-955-3901.
To set up a home assessment, get a copy of your completed assessment, or schedule an informational presentation, email Wildland Urban Interface Specialist Porfirio Chavarria at pnchavarria@santafenm.gov or call 505-955-3119.
