Community Update on City Pools and Aquatic Facilities
To help keep the community informed, the City of Santa Fe has compiled answers to questions about recent pool closures and aquatic facility operations. The information below provides additional context about maintenance practices, staffing, repair processes, and ongoing efforts to support safe and reliable aquatic services for Santa Fe residents.

Bicentennial Pool Extended Hours
Bicentennial Pool will remain open through September 4, 2026, as staffing allows. Hours will vary throughout August and early September.
August 5–21
Monday–Friday: 6 a.m.–1 p.m.
Lap swim: 6–10:30 a.m.
Tot pool: 8 a.m.–1 p.m.
Recreation and lap swim: 10:30 a.m.–1 p.m.
Weekends: Closed
August 22–September 1
Monday–Friday: 6 a.m.–7 p.m.
Weekend hours: 10:30 a.m.–5 p.m.
A 30-minute closure will occur between afternoon sessions.
September 2–4
Wednesday–Friday: 6 a.m.–1 p.m.
Lap swim: 6–10:30 a.m.
Tot pool: 8 a.m.–1 p.m.
Recreation and lap swim: 10:30 a.m.–1 p.m.
Limited Access: Portions of the pool will be reserved for scheduled youth visits on August 11, 12 and 27.
Lifeguard Rapid-Hire Event: Saturday, August 22, from 9 a.m.–2 p.m. at the Genoveva Chavez Community Center. Applicants may begin lifeguarding at age 15.
- Kids 7 and under must have parent IN-WATER with them at all times
- Kids 10 and under need to be accompanied with an adult in the facility
- Kids 11-17 must be checked in by a parent and provide emergency contact information.
- Kids 11-17 may be left unaccompanied after being checked in by a parent.

Healthy people, healthy community
Bicentennial Pool is the city's only outdoor pool facility open during the summer, typically from the day after Memorial Day to Labor Day. Sporting a 25-yard pool with a slide and tot pool and play features. The Bicentennial Pool is a family summertime favorite. The bordering shady park (Ron Shirley Alto Park) is perfect for a post-swim picnic.
