What is Age-Friendly Santa Fe?
Age-Friendly Santa Fe began when the City of Santa Fe joined the AARP Network of Age-Friendly States and Communities. The AARP Network of Age-Friendly States and Communities is a program that provides support and resources to improve a community’s livability for people of all ages, especially older adults. This network connects communities across the globe to share insights, practices, and resources that help communities improve along 8 Domains of Livability:
- Outdoor Spaces and Buildings
- Transportation
- Housing
- Civic Participation & Employment
- Health Services & Community Support
- Social Participation
- Communication & Information
- Respect and Social Inclusion
Now that Santa Fe is part of the network, the next step in the AARP Age-Friendly program process is to conduct a community needs assessment and develop an age-friendly action plan. The age-friendly action plan will create goals and strategies to improve the quality of life for Santa Feans along the 8 Domains of livability. The City of Santa Fe will develop these goals and strategies based on the insights and opinions the community will share through our Age-Friendly Santa Fe Survey and Age-Friendly Santa Fe community events.
