Basic Licensing Information
Who needs one?
Anyone conducting business in the city limits of Santa Fe.
What do I do first?
Establish the business with the Secretary of State, such as an LLC, Corporation, or Partnership.
Obtain appropriate tax documents, including GRT Registration, from New Mexico Taxation and Revenue.
City of Santa Fe Business Licensing: Apply for your business license online at https://santafenm-energovpub.tylerhost.net/Apps/selfservice#
- Create log in information.
- Click on “License” and find your category, then click “Apply.”
- When starting the application, make sure you select your contact information before moving forward. If you do not do this, the system will not recognize you and we will be forced to delete any application without contact information.
- Please be as detailed as possible while filling out the description of your business. This helps our inspectors tremendously.
- Make sure you upload the correct GRT document. If you do not have the GRT certificate, you may provide a screenshot from your TAP account that has the business name and GRT number.
- Once you submit, write down the license number that is provided. For the fastest turnaround time, email that license number to the business license office and let us know about the new submittal.
- Once we receive it and review it for completion, it is sent to zoning for processing. This can take anywhere from 7–10 days, depending on the time of year or the type of license.
- You will be charged a Certificate of Compliance fee for your inspections.
- Once all inspections are complete, you will be issued an invoice for your license.
- Once payment is made, you are issued your City of Santa Fe Business License.
Renewable licenses are valid for one year from the date of payment.
Non-renewable licenses expire every calendar year.
