The Crime Scene Unit consists of one full-time civilian technician, one full-time police officer, and three auxiliary officers who assist in an Auxiliary Crime Scene Unit capacity. Together this unit is responsible for documenting, collecting, photographing, processing, and analyzing evidence located at all major crime scenes. CSU also coordinates with the New Mexico Department of Public Safety Forensic Laboratory for latent fingerprint analysis, DNA, firearms forensics, and other avenues of forensic investigation.
