Airport Road Repaving Project
Project Overview
The Public Works Department’s Complete Streets Division will be initiating the first phase of improvements to Airport Road, between Cerrillos Road and NM-599.
Project Updates
Construction for this project has been announced. Work will begin February 11.
Construction Phasing and Schedule:
The project will be completed in two phases. Phase One will focus on the segment from Cerrillos Road to Fairly Road.
Initial construction activities will include:
- Removal and replacement of ADA-compliant curb ramps
- Associated concrete and sidewalk improvements
Construction is scheduled to begin February 11, 2026, and is anticipated to continue through the end of May 2026, weather and field conditions permitting.
Traffic control measures will be in place throughout the duration of the project. Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes when possible and to allow extra travel time when traveling through the area.
Phase 1 Area Effected: Phase One will focus on the segment from Cerrillos Road to Fairly Road. Work will start on the north side of Airport at Zepol road and move west eventually to Fairy Road.

Coordination With Private Development:
Some private businesses along Airport Road will be updating sidewalks and driveways in coordination with this project. These improvements are associated with the overall construction activity but are not City projects. The City will clearly identify these locations to help the public understand the distinction.
